The Lucky Iron Fish offers a simple way to boost the iron in your meals. It helps meet your daily iron requirements and is durable enough for your entire family to use for up to five years. 

Just add it to boiling water or any liquid-based dish such as soups, stews, or rice for 10 minutes to naturally infuse 6-8mg of iron each time.

• 'Ingredients'
  The Fish/Leaf is created from food-grade electrolytic iron powder, FDA certified and recognised worldwide for safe food fortification.

  During boiling, the iron particles released are optimally sized for safe and easy absorption by your body, without any side effects.

  Each batch undergoes testing to confirm it releases a safe amount of iron, avoiding any risk of toxicity. Lucky Iron Life also verify that the iron is free from contaminants that could pose health risks.
  
  

• My Lucky Iron Fish looks different/has spots on it, is it still safe to cook with?
  It's completely normal for your Fish/Leaf to change appearance over time since it's made from natural iron. 

  If you notice an orange color, it’s probably rust. Don’t worry - rust is common and can be easily cleaned off.

  To prevent rust, follow the use & care steps:

  • Make sure to scrub your Fish with soapy water both before and after use, even when just using it in boiling water.

  • After cleaning, be sure to dry your Lucky Iron Fish/Leaf right away using a kitchen towel.

  • Never allow your Fish/Leaf to air dry or remain wet, as this is when rust can develop.

  • After drying, apply one or two drops of Protection Oil to shield it from moisture in the environment.

To get rid of rust:

• • Apply a small amount of lemon juice to the Fish and scrub it using a rough sponge.
  • Next, clean it again by scrubbing with soap and water. Make sure to dry it completely before applying the Protection Oil.

• How does the Lucky Iron Fish Work?
  When placed in gently acidified boiling water, the Lucky Iron Fish or Leaf gradually releases tiny iron particles into the liquid.
  
  For best results, use the Lucky Iron Fish in meals with plenty of liquid, such as soups, or in dishes like porridge or rice where the liquid is completely absorbed. 

• Does the Lucky Iron Fish release enough iron for me?
  Most adults require between 8 and 18mg of iron daily, based on their lifestyle and life stage. When used correctly, the Lucky Iron Fish and Leaf supply 6-8mg of easily absorbed iron per use, covering a significant portion of the daily iron needs for most people.
  
  Your needs may be more or less than the average so it is always advisable to speak with your healthcare professionals if you are unsure how much iron you need. 

• Can the Lucky Iron Fish cause iron toxicity or release too much iron?
  The Lucky Iron Fish or Leaf would only release excessive iron if purposely misused, such as boiling it for several hours. This would also alter the liquid’s taste and smell, making it unpleasant to consume.
  
  Use according to the instructions and speak with your healthcare professionals if you have any concerns.

• Can the Lucky Iron Fish be used for meals that will be eaten by the whole family?
  Yes, the Lucky Iron Fish or Leaf emits small, easily absorbed amounts of iron, making it safe for use by most people, including pregnant and nursing mothers.
  
  Please note: Lucky Iron Life have not tested the Lucky Iron Fish or Leaf for infants under 12 months old. Following Canadian Paediatric Society recommendations, most infants do not need extra iron during their first year. If your baby’s doctor determines that additional iron is necessary, Lucky Iron Life recommend following their guidance on the safest treatment approach.
  
  The Lucky Iron Fish is not recommended for individuals with hemoglobin variants like Hemochromatosis, a genetic condition that affects the body's ability to process iron.
