Hey there! We’re Active Health Clinic (but you can call us AHC) and we’re so glad you’ve found your way here. Since this is our very first blog post, it seems only right to start with a proper introduction.
AHC began in 2008, born from a deep need for people living with complex and invisible illnesses to feel seen, respected, understood - and most importantly, supported. Founded by Nathan Butler, AHC was built on values that remain in our compass to this day: integrity, respect, access, and community.
We’re not just a clinic. We’re a collective of people passionate about doing healthcare differently - multidisciplinary, ever evolving, and deeply committed to showing up for those living with conditions that are often overlooked or misunderstood.
💡 Our mission? To make invisible illnesses visible - and to offer meaningful support, education, and care for the people living with them.
We’re a team of allied health professionals, educators, and advocates, many with lived experience of the very conditions we support. Over the past 17 years, we’ve walked alongside thousands of individuals across Australia and globally - and reached over 13 million lives through our free resources, online programs, and community.
Our expertise started with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and has grown to include:
Dysautonomia including POTS
And many others
Our approach is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and inclusive - grounded in the biopsychosocial model, which considers physical, emotional, social, and cognitive health.
We believe that education is powerful. We don’t just treat - we empower. We want you to understand your body, symptoms, diagnosis, and options, so you can confidently advocate for yourself.
From Instagram posts to YouTube videos and email newsletters, we offer thousands of free tools to help you right where you are.
Structured education to help you build foundational knowledge about your condition and care options.
Supportive, facilitated programs that blend learning with real connection.
Work with our Exercise Physiologists, Dietitians, or Occupational Therapists for personalised, collaborative care.
Our most comprehensive support: a wrap-around team that works together to address the full picture of your health. (Psst, we’re excited to grow this even more.)
Invisible illnesses often span systems and symptoms. That’s why collaborative care can be so transformative - especially when managing fatigue, pain, neurodivergence, and complex diagnoses.
At AHC, we combine the clinical insight of multiple disciplines with real-world lived experience to deliver care that feels genuine, thoughtful, and empowering.
We’re researchers. We’re clinicians. We’re people with invisible illnesses ourselves. That’s why our work is grounded not just in evidence, but in empathy.
We hope this blog becomes a space where you feel informed, supported, and a little more understood - whether you’re newly diagnosed, navigating a flare, or still looking for answers.
